Core Ministries of Christ
Jesus said, "For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’" -Matthew 25:35,36 NLT
In these verses, Jesus is describing the final judgment and says that true Christians will have helped those who are hungry, in need of housing, clothing, those who are sick and those in prison. Mission New York takes these words seriously and calls them the "Core Ministries of Christ". Mission New York will always dedicate a portion of our time and money to helping those in desperate need by providing clothing and food, visiting prisoners and partnering with ministries who house people. The Core Ministries of Christ will not be ignored by Mission New York churches. Fulfilling Christ's words from Matthew 25 not only has eternal promises attached, but it cultivates an attitude of thankfulness as we step outside of our own problems and difficulties to assist with those who are truly suffering right here in New York City. In New York City, 1 in 5 people rely on some type of aid for food and 1 in 4 children do not have sufficient food. Click here to see Mission New York in action helping the poor.
